New, Dark Blue Leather.; The official history of the Church known as the Documentary History of the Church ends shortly after the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith. On page 245 of the History of the Church it reads, “[Section] V EXCERPTS FROM THE MANUSCRIPT HISTORY OF BRIGHAM YOUNG FROM AUGUST 9 1844 TO OCTOBER 8 1848” this is a span of 383 pages taken directly from the Manuscript History of Brigham young. On page 604 of the DHC it reads, “ With the close of February, 1846, I shall discontinue following the daily Journal known as the History of Brigham Young, Ms. , because of the inadequacy of the space in this volume to continue daily entries from that journal, to the close of the period designed — October 8, 1848”. And so the use of the Manuscript History of Brigham Young for the official history of the Church ended basically at the end of February, 1846 except for some excerpts from October 1847 to October 1848 comprising the final 15 pages of volume seven of the DHC. The rest of it was never published by the Church. The Manuscript History History of Brigham Young is an authentic document coming from the LDS Church archives, derived from a microfilm copy of the original manuscript. It is the record of the exodus of the Saints in 1847, their travels across the country and their final establishment in Utah. ; 6" x 8.5"; 388 pages
