A Lecture on Priesthood - Elder Joseph E. Taylor, October 1890, Dye, David (editor)
1 A Lecture on Priesthood - Elder Joseph E. Taylor, October 1890

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; "The office of the Apostles is the Alpha and Omega of the Priesthood. It has embodied in it all there is of Priesthood as pertaining to this earth."

In this landmark doctrinal discourse given by Elder Joseph E. Taylor in 1890, the differing duties of the various offices of the Priesthood are layed out in a clear and precise manner. Discussed is not only the office of Apostle, of which the Quorum of the Twelve and the Quorum of the Seventy are a part of, but also the offices of Patriarch, Bishop, Elder, High Priest, and the Aaronic Priesthood offices.

In addition to Elder Taylor's discourse, there is a note section at the end, which offers additional insight into the principles that he addressed on Priesthood. There is quoted an article from 1873 which reports that President Brigham Young organized a Quorum of Seven which stood higher in rank that did the Quorum of the Twelve. Additionally, there are quotes on the Apostleship, on the Apostleship of the Seventy (something which is not generally understood today) , the relationship of the Seventy and High Priest, and the fulness of the Priesthood.

For those who understand the offices of Priesthood in the early Church, this discourse is not only insightful and faith-promoting, but dispels many mysteries on the organization of the power of God on earth! For those who do not understand the office of the Priesthood, this is a great article to introduce some very thought-provoking ideas. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 25 pages,

2 Ancient American Civilizations - Apostle Moses Thatcher November 1888

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Brigham Young once stated that any subject that pertains to truth, whether it be on a religious theme, or whether it be in the scientific field, or whatever field, if it is truth, it fits within the realm of the gospel.
So, then, can this discourse be classified as a gospel discourse. Given by Apostle Moses Thatcher in November of 1888 to the Young Mens Association of the Church, in Ogden, Utah, This discourse recounts some of the archaeological discoveries that were just occurring or being understood at the time.
Elder Thatcher relates information, as well as explanation, on the topics of the Tower of Babel, Columbus, and the ancient Aztec civilization. Of particular interest is the conclusion which he draws on the migration route of the Aztecs, stating that they left the north country of Alaska and thereabouts wandered south, even coming through (and some of them settling in) Utah. He elaborated upon their ancient canal systems as well as the caves which were used by them.
He spoke of the people of Mexico rising up eventually, and becoming as great a civilization as that in north America. Their intelligence, he maintained, was at least on par if not superior to that of the inhabitants of North America.
He ends with his testimony of Joseph Smith, and the role that the Prophet had in restoring lost truths to the earth.
For a great mixture of science and religion, this is a great read! ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 27 pages,

3 Celestial Masonry of Motherhood - Including the Trinity of Motherhood. Eliza R. Snow

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Known as the 'Prophetess,' Eliza R. Snow did as much for early Mormon theology in relation to our Mother-in-Heaven as did any male leader of the Church.
This booklet, taken from the book 'The Women of Mormondom' by Edward Tullidge, addresses the interesting, and even vital, topic of a Mother in Heaven.
Some interesting quotes included in this booklet include:
Revelation on Women Received by Women: Joseph endowed the church with the genesis of a grand theology, and Brigham has reared the colossal fabric of a new civilization; but woman herself must sing of her celestial origin, and her relationship to the majesty of creation.
Worship of God the Father and the Mother: An archangel proclamation that! Henceforth shall the mother half of creation be worshipped with that of the God-Father; and in that worship woman, by the very association of ideas, shall be exalted in the coming civilization.
Hierarcy of Spirits: Brightest among these spirits, and nearest in the circle to our Father and Mother in heaven (the Father being Adam) , were Seth, Enock, Noah and Abraham, Moses David, and Jesus Christ indeed that glorious cohort of men and women, whose lives have left immortal records in the world's history. Among these the Mormon faith would rank Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and their compeers.
Adam, or Michael, is the Father of our Spirits: These are the sons and daughters of Adam - the Ancient of Days - the Father and God of the whole human family. These are the sons and daughters of Michael, who is Adam, the father of the spirits of all our race.
A Grand Order of Saviors: Moreover, Jesus is one of a grand order of Saviours. Every world has its distinctive Saviour, and every dispensation its Christ.
Celestial Masonry: There is a glorious Masonic scheme among the Gods.
Heiress of the Gods: Woman is heiress of the Gods. She is joint heir with her elder brother, Jesus the Christ; but she inherits from her God-Father and her God-Mother.
New Revelation: Our Mother in heaven is decidedly a new revelation, as beautiful and delicate to the masculine sense of the race as it is just and exalting to the feminine. It is the woman's own revelation. Not even did Jesus proclaim to the world the revelation of our Mother in heaven - co-existant and co-equal with the eternal Father. This was left, among the unrevealed truths, to the present age, when it would seem the woman is destined by Providence to become very much the oracle of a new and peculiar civilization.
The Trinity of Mothers: A trinity of Mothers - Eve the Mother of a world; Sarah the Mother of the covenant; Zion the Mother of celestial sons and daughters - the Mother of the new creation of Messiah's reign, which shall give to earth the crown of her glory and the cup of joy all her ages of travail. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 14 pages,

Church Trial Minutes of John W. Taylor - And the 1886 Revelation Along with a Brief History of John W. Taylor's Life, and Circumstances Surrounding the 1886 Revelation, Dye, David (editor)
4 Church Trial Minutes of John W. Taylor - And the 1886 Revelation Along with a Brief History of John W. Taylor's Life, and Circumstances Surrounding the 1886 Revelation

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; During most of his lifetime, Apostle John W. Taylor was known as the "Prophet of the Quorum" of the Twelve Apostles. Then, in 1905, he resigned from this Quorum, and six years later, in 1911, he was excommunicated from the LDS Church. How could this be? It was no new thing to hear that a leader of the Church had "gone astray," but the odd thing about Apostle Taylor's case is that he was cut off with no bitter or hard feelings whatsoever, on his part, about the Church, and to his dying day, five years after his excommunication, maintained a severe loyalty to the Church and the leaders. But even more so, maintained a supreme loyalty to the Fulness of the Gospel.
In 1965 President David O. McKay, who sat on the Quorum when John W. Taylor was excommunicated, approved a proxy re-baptism and re-conferral of Priesthood for Apostle John W. Taylor, with one of John's sons acting as proxy. So, at long last, he was brought back into fellowship with the Saints and the Church he so dearly loved.
The story behind this incident has been told on several occasions, as well as his life story, filled with faith, selfless acts of service, and valiant and bold testimony. But the story has been incomplete until now, with one of the two major components being left out.
Presented in this booklet are two vital components to understanding that situation back in the early 1900's. The first are the minutes of his Church trial, held by the Council of the Twelve Apostles over a period of about one month in early 1905. The second is a copy of the "1886 Revelation" to President John Taylor, Apostle John W. Taylors father. It is upon this that the whole trial seemed to have it's basis, at least in the mind of John W. Taylor.
These two important pieces of "hidden information" shed much light on why such an event even took place, and why Apostle Taylor would be willing to sacrifice his Church membership without the bitterness that ususally accompanies such actions.
Also included is a brief history of the life of John W. Taylor and the 1886 Revelation. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 34 pages,

Fundamental Concepts of the Universe - Elder John A. Widtsoe 1908, Dye, David (editor)
5 Fundamental Concepts of the Universe - Elder John A. Widtsoe 1908

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Joseph Smith was one of the greatest minds to ever grace this earthy sphere. This because of his calling as a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator to the True and Living God. In the revelations he brought forth, and the teachings he advanced, those who recognize truth understand that there is no separating the spiritual and material.
In this 22-page booklet, Apostle and Scientist John A. Widtsoe aptly puts forth some of the great scientific teachings which Joseph advanced in his teachings. Comprising four chapters of the work Joseph Smith as a Scientist, originally published in 1908, Widtsoe discusses some intriguing scientific concepts, and explains how the Prophet advanced these truths long before the world of science recognized them.
In this booklet you will be introduced, in a very exciting way, to such principles as the theory of light; how intelligence and energy are the same thing; the 'ether' which fills all of space, and how this ether is a controlling force; how the Holy Spirit controls all natural phenomena; etc. , etc..
A quote from Plato so aptly demonstrates how we only know things by their effects, and that "the cause of any given effect may, itself, be the effect of other causes, and that the first cause of daily phenomena is not and probably cannot be understood." Also, that miracles are laws which aren't understood.
The titles of the chapters which are included within this booklet are:
THE INDESTRUCTIBILITY OF MATTER
THE INDESTRUCTIBILITY OF ENERGY
THE UNIVERSAL ETHER
THE REIGN OF LAW; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 18 pages,

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Parley P. Pratt, one of the early intellectuals of the Church, a profound defender of the faith, and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, offered in 1855 one of the most eloquent writings on plural marriage given.

In it you will read about the duty incumbent upon Abraham, and his posterity (IE us) to live the law of plural marriage, the vital necessity of living a pure and chaste life, with sexual intercourse being reserved only for those individuals who are married, and the resultant woes of those who disregard the laws of God.

8 The Administration of Angels - Wilford Woodruff October 1896

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; In October of 1896, President Woodruff gave this superb discourse upon the ministration of Angels. Of all the Church Presidents, Wilford Woodruff seemed to be the most in tune with 'the other side.' He would often refer to conversations or revelations which he received from those in the Spirit World.
In this discourse, you will read about an experience in Kentucky in which a man dropped dead, after Pres. Woodruff warned him and was inspired to predict the future. You will read about a visitation wherein the future was reveled.
You will read why the Prophet Joseph Smith visited Pres. Woodruff 'a great deal' after the death of the Prophet. You will also read how Brigham Young visited Pres. Woodruff, and how righteous spirits rebuke evil spirits.

9 The Coming Crisis - How to Meet It

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; A GREAT and awful crisis is at hand - such a crisis was never known before since the foundation of the world. All nations are looking throught the misty future, in order to decry, if possible, what is about to happen.
The Powers of Satan
Perhaps you will be disappointed, if I tell you that the time is coming, and now is, when, not only God, the Highest of all, shall be revealed in spirit and mighty power, but the Devil or Satan also, will be revealed in signs and wonders, and in mighty deeds! This, reader, is the great key to all the marvelous events that are to transpire shortly upon the earth.
The Vehicles of Satan's Influence
It is not to be expected that Satan will carry on his great warfare against Christ and His Saints, by means of any one religion exclusively.
Truths are Vehemently Denied and Evil is Called Good
Notwithstanding there is much preaching and praying, still there is a virtual acknowledgment amongst all nations that God, as he was known unto the Patriarchs and Prophets of old, has forsaken the earth. And men are left to discover the way to heaven by the light of nature, or the misty nebulae of a hireling Priesthood.
Delusions will Abound Without the Spirit
And who shall be able to withstand? Do you think that your great sagacity and the compass of you profound, philosophical turn of mind will enable you to detect the error and delusion of these arts? Oh, man, this is a vain hope. Your mind will not be competent to detect the delusion. God Himself will allow Satan to ply your scrutinizing eye with powers and sophistications far beyond your capacity to detect.
Personal Revelation is Vital
You cannot know God without present revelation. Did you ever think of this most solemn and essential truth, before?
Marriage will be given up for Sexual Abominations
And further, when you see also the gross and beastly sexual abominations that are practiced and are increasing among all nations, without shame or fear, you will not marvel that God is determined to raise up a righteous seed and glorious branch, by re-establishing the Patriarchal Order, as in the days of Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon, and Elkanah.
The Pure and Obedient to Get Revelations
Now there are several ways in which the pure and obedient get revelations. It will be your privilege in due time to become acquainted with these various ways. One way is, through the inspiration of the spirit. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 15 pages,

10 The Hidden Discourse - Pres. Brigham Young, October 8, 1861

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; This 24-page booklet was produced by the FIG Project. The original discourse is found in the LDS Church archives, but cannot be found printed in any Church publication as per the instructions of President Young. He began his talk, "I will give you a few words of doctrine, upon which there has been much inquiry, and with regard to which considerable ignorance exists. Brother Watt will write it, but it is not my intention to have it published; therefore pay good attention, and store it up in your memories."

Discussed in this extremely interesting and hard-to-find discourse are doctrinal tidbits on items such as Adam-God, divorce, the sealing of women to men (and the two ways that they can be released -- if a man is unfaithful to his covenants, or if a woman desires to be sealed to another man who holds a higher position in the priesthood) , the roles of men and women, and how young ladies can choose an eternal companion.

In the first section of this pamphlet can be found the "corrected" version of this discourse, with spelling, punctuation, etc. , printed properly. The second section is a typescript of the talk as it was recorded, with strikeouts, additions, spelling errors, ect. This is for the purists who desire to see what changes were made in the text of the talk in the corrected version. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 24 pages,

The Last Days - The Evening and Morning Star, February 1833, Dye, David (editor)
11 The Last Days - The Evening and Morning Star, February 1833

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; "We see nation rising against nation; we hear of the pestilence destroying thousands in one place, and its tens of thousands in another; the plague consuming all before it, and we witness the terror that reigns in the hearts of the wicked, and we are ready to exclaim, The Lord is certainly about bringing the world to an account of its iniquity."
Though originally penned in 1833, and printed in the Mormon Church periodical 'The Evening and the Morning Star,' it's as if it could have been written today.
There are two appendices included in this booklet. The first is titled Those Who Are Prepared Need Not Fear, whilst the other one is Self-Examination.
It is a thought-provoking writing from the days when Joseph Smith walked and talked with the early Saints.

"Men without the Spirit of God to guide them into sacred truth have long labored six times as much for the perishable things of the world, as for the one thing needful: bretheren, you have better knowledge, act accordingly, for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. Counsel not the Lord but walk by faith, showing good works, that your examples may be worthy of imitation." ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 20 pages,

The Order of Enoch - President Brigham Young October 1872, Dye, David (editor)
12 The Order of Enoch - President Brigham Young October 1872

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; No person can be exalted in the kingdom of heaven without first submitting himself to the rules, regulations, laws and ordinances of that kingdom, and being perfectly subject to them in every respect. There are requirements for exaltation. One must conform precisely and fully to what the laws of Heaven are. Thus begins Brigham Young in this discourse.
The Order of Enoch encompasses more than the living of the United Order; it is a mind set that guides our whole life. Even our business dealings ought to be done always based on the principles of the gospel.
In this wonderfully directive discourse, President Young offers counsel for a Zion society: don't waste your time, and especially in the reading of the words of a frivolous nature; do not contend; do not rely upon the arm of flesh; etc.
Also found in this discourse are his feelings on the professions of doctors and lawyers. He states that it would soon be that a woman would not have a baby without a doctor present. Thus is it now!
Probably the most important message of this discourse is this: " ... It seems as if the affections of the people are hankering after the things of this world too much, too much! Stop, Latter-day Saints, and reckon with yourselves, and find whether you are actually in the path of obediance to the requirements of heaven or not. Some suppose that they are serving God and are on the road to eternal life, but many will find they are mistaken if they are not careful. We had better reckon with ourselves and look over our accounts, and see how we stand before the Lord." ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 20 pages,

13 The Reason for Blood Sacrifice - Franklin D. Richards, October 9, 1887

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; This discourse, given in 1887 at a General Conference session, discusses what blood sacrifice is and why it is important to the Saints. Recalling Adam and Eve, and their sacrifice, he then goes on throughout history recounting other great sacrifies, including that of Abraham and Jesus Christ.
Elder Richards states, "There is very little said in early history about sacrificing, but on momentous occasions it never was forgotten." He also teaches us that "the ordinance of sacrifice was instituted ... To perpetuate the memory of the great sacrifice of Christ until the redeemer should come, to establish it in the hearts of Adam's children, that they might never forget it, that they might look forward to that time, exercise faith in that being, ..."
Other precious gems of knowledge which we are favored with in this discourse include:
Death: "We look at it as but a stepping stone from one apartment of God's great creation to another."
Baptism of Adam: "the holy spirit gathered Adam up, and put him under the water and brought him out of the water. "
Sacrament: "he instituted that supper as a subject, as an ordinance, a means by which his memory, after he had gone, had departed, should be perpetuated. And this supper has come to us, and it is for this that we partake of the sacrament."; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 13 pages,

The Resurrection As a Priesthood Ordinance - Elder Joseph E. Taylor, June 1888, Dye, David (editor)
14 The Resurrection As a Priesthood Ordinance - Elder Joseph E. Taylor, June 1888

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; This lecture, given in the Logan Temple in 1888 as part of the ongoing Logan Temple Lecture Series, is best known for ther advancement of the controversial doctrine regarding the resurrection of children. Br. Taylor advances the belief, taken from his understanding of the teachings of Joseph Smith, that when children are resurrected, they will not grow. Therefore, reigning throughout the eternities, on the thrones of the Gods, will be bodies of children with the wisdom of men.

The mere fact that this was advanced by him in the Temple, and that it was even addressed, allows us to peer into the annals of Church history. This was a doctrine that, if not taught all the time, was being discussed in private circles among the Church leaders.

Also included in th is discourse is the explicit teaching that God the Father came to this earth and provided the necessary genetic material for the body of Jesus Christ. In other words, the Father sired the Son. Rarely has this been discussed in such frankness as in this discourse.

Elder Taylor also proposes taht God the Father was a Savior on His world, and this is why He had the power to come to this earth as a perfected resurrected Being, partake of gross matter, have blood flow through His veins, provide mortal bodies for His spirit children, then have power over death. He maintains, as does Brigham Young, that Adam, who is Michael, did not die, but was instead translated, and this translation came about from powers obtained through being Exalted previously.

If one is looking for a discourse, given by an early Church authority, to unlock the myopic vision that we so often find ourselves in today, one may find it here. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 24 pages,

15 The Rights of the Priesthood - Living by the Spirit - Wilford Woodruff

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Wilford Woodruff was one of the premier missionaries for the early LDS Chruch. He was also, it seemed, as comfortable in the world of Spirits as he was in the world of mortals.
The two discourses included within the pages of this booklet are prime examples of the closeness that he had with the Spirit, and the understanding that he had of Church and Heavenly Government.
Both of these discourses have come from 'non-traditional' sources, and are a bit harder to find than those found in the Journal of Discourses or other common books found today. The uniqueness of what is said and how it is said is what makes these discourses so appealing. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 20 pages,

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Though of little fame, Mary Elizabeth Rollins Lightner played a vital role during the early days of the Church. Personally befriended by the Prophet Joseph, his family, and the other leading brethren, she was a first-hand witness and participant in many of the atrocities inflicted on the Saints. More than once she and her non-member husband were the means of relieving suffering for many of the Saints.
One of the most brave, and important, acts she committed was when the mobs destroyed the printing press on which the first Book of Commandments was published. At 14 years of age, she and her sister ran into the streets and gathered all of the strewn pages that she could, tucking them in her dress and running into a cornfield when the mobs discovered what she was doing. She lay still until they had passed. She was later presented with a Book of Commandments as a token of thanks.
She was also sealed for eternity to the Prophet Joseph. She recounts her spiritual witness of this being God's will, having been visited by an angel. Brigham Young sealed them. Additionally, she tells of other women who were also sealed to the Prophet, and even recounts knowing of three of his children who were born to women other than Emma, but who went by different names so as to hide their identity.
The history recounted in this 30-page booklet is amazing: witnessing Bishop Partridge being tarred and feathered; working for and living with Lilburn W. Boggs; smuggling gunpowder for the Saints; the Huan's Mill massacre; talking down a mob; being struck by lightning; losing two sons to poisoning, and nearly dying herself; traveling on steamboats with soldiers from the civil war; traveling across the plains; seeing Joseph, Hyrum, and Heber C. Kimbal as spirits, etc. , etc. , etc.
What a fascinating part of Church history that is inspiring, faith building, and a treat to read. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 32 pages,

The True Christmas and New Year - Apostle Orson Pratt 1872, Dye, David (editor)
20 The True Christmas and New Year - Apostle Orson Pratt 1872

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; If the Christian world were to celebrate Christmas when Christ was actually born, our festivities would be in April. And more specifically, April 11th, as this is the date of His birth. Using the Book of Mormon, and referencing some of the chronological works of his day, Apostle Pratt concludes that Christ was born on April 11th, and argues that the first day of the year should also be on this same day.
He relates how Dionysius, of the Roman Catholic Church, about 500 years after Christ, attempted to ascertain the exact date of Christ's birth, and how scholars and revelation since his day have unhesitatingly denounced Dionysius' calculations. Nevertheless, his dates were used for years, and when his errors were finally discovered, it was too late to change all of the documents dated using this system. So, his way of reckoning was then termed the "vulgar era" and this is what we still reckon on today.
Elder Pratt then explains that Christ was 32 years old when crucified, that He set up his Kingdon on earth (restoration) precisely 1,800 years to the day of when he was lifted up on the cross, and that this is firm evidence of the divinity of the mission of Joseph Smith! He talks about other changes made to our calendars, with a recent one being in 1752, when eleven days were dropped from the calendar as per parliamentary law, in order to adjust the seasons. Additionally, he speaks of the return of Christ, and offers some thoughts as to the timing and reckoning of this when comparted to the dates we have in the Bible, which are inaccurate.
He bears strong testimony of the importance of the Atonement, and states that if Satan can get the people to disbelieve in this one doctrine, he needn't worry about any other deception! The atonement is the key event in history.
He also speaks of the creations, and how Adam and Eve could be the first flesh on the earth when they were the last to be made. The two creations (spiritual and physical) are explained.
This is a spiritually uplifting discourse, with doctrinal and scientific implications on every page. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 16 pages,
