The 528-page book also contains 302 pictures; an index of all names and ages of the pioneers in the four emigrating companies and their known rescuers; three of their emigrating songs, including all verses of the original "Handcart Song" by J. D. T. McAllister; a brief chronological overview of their immigration and rescue; an 1855 map of the trail that they used, and more. Dark leather with attractive decor has some wear to edges and spine. Hinges are weak but still attached. Pages up to title page are also becoming loose. Marble endpapers. Interior pages have some minor spotting. Some stray pencil markings on fly leafs. Text is still clear and good. Book is complete! ; There are dozens of FULL PAGE ENGRAVED ILLUSTRATIONS. The book is bound in full embossed leather with very fancy gold gilt titles and illustrations on the spine leather. The end pages are a beautiful blue & tan hand marbled pattern. All three edges of the pages are also done in the same fancy marbled pattern, but are now faded. It measures a substantial 8 3/4" high x 6" wide x 2 3/4" thick. A great history of the old western states. ; 6.5" x 9"; 775 pages,
