Brand new softcover book!

; In Mormonism today, there exists a growing number of LDS couples, who find themselves in a complicated situation. Generally speaking, these men and women have been married in the temple, are active in the church, and are working to raise children in this dark and difficult world. Although every story is unique, the basic challenge these couples face is similar. One spouse, and it can be either the husband or the wife, determines to search deeper into the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the glories of the Kingdom. (D&C 42:61). He or she studies scripture and then compares the holy word of God to what the LDS Church is currently teaching. This comparison results in a spiritual awakening, where the growing member realizes just how much light and truth has been lost since the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith. They may then try to share their new perspective with those they love, but often find that the other does not appreciate their new understanding, and instead would rather stay in the religious traditions passed down by the fathers. (D&C 93:39). To assist these couples in working through spiritual differences, a twelve-step program is provided here in this text.; 10 X 7 X 0.19 inches; 80 pages,

Marriage and Morals in Utah - Parley P. Pratt, Dye, David (editor)
4 Marriage and Morals in Utah - Parley P. Pratt

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Parley P. Pratt, one of the early intellectuals of the Church, a profound defender of the faith, and an Apostle of Jesus Christ, offered in 1855 one of the most eloquent writings on plural marriage given.
Following by three years the address given by his brother Orson revealing to the world the Saints' belief in plural marriage, this discourse was written for an address to the political body of the territory of Utah.
In it you will read about the duty incumbent upon Abraham, and his posterity (IE us) to live the law of plural marriage, the vital necessity of living a pure and chaste life, with sexual intercourse being reserved only for those individuals who are married, and the resultant woes of those who disregard the laws of God.
Also included is a rather extensive endnote section which addresses both plural marriage as well as the law of chastity both within and without the marital covenant. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 24 pages,

Twenty-Seven Rules of Celestial Marriage - Apostle Orson Pratt, Dye, David (editor)
5 Twenty-Seven Rules of Celestial Marriage - Apostle Orson Pratt

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Orson Pratt was one of the leading theologins in the early Church. Born in New York in 1811, he heard the gospel as a teenager, and was baptized on his 19th birthday in September of 1830, just months after the Church was organized. He met the Prophet Joseph in October of that year, and was ordanied as an elder in December of 1830.
He served several missions, and was a member of Zion's Camp in 1834. He was the first man to enter the Great Salt Lake Valley, and was both a strength and a thorn in the side to Brigham Young. A very studious and intelligent man, he was also fervent in bearing testimony to the truthfulness of many of the truths of the fulness of the gospel.
In General Conference in 1852, he was asked by President Young to give the first public discourse on Plural Marriage in this dispensation. Up to this time, the "Principle" was lived on the underground. Now, Elder Pratt, a member of the Twelve, disclosed what many had known and suspected all along. In an extemporaneous speech, he gave a masterful discourse on the history and validity of Celestial Plural Marriage.
He was the father of forty-five children, and had numerous plural wives. It is said that his knowledge combined with his experience qualified him to expound on the "rules" of plural marriage. Much of the advice offered in these 27 rules is both timeless and timely. Many professionals today are touting as "new finds" the same advice offered within this century-old counsel. Included are thoughts on man's relationship to God, his relationship to his wives, the wive's relationship to each other, and a parent's relationship to their children. Stressed is the importance of love and following the Spirit.
Pratt died in October of 1881, at the age of 70.; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 21 pages,

13 No Other Succuss The Parenting Practices of David O. McKay

Ogletree, Mark D.New in New Dust Jacket, Religious Studies Center Brigham Young University and Deseret Book Company, 2017,

Hardcover

Brand new hardcover book!

; "No other success can compensate for failure in the home" is a statement made famous by President David O. McKay, who taught Church members the importance of focusing on the family. At the age of 32, he magnified his responsibilities as a newly called Apostle. He had to learn to juggle world travel, heavy Church assignments, and his small but growing family. Later, as a member of the First Presidency, he spent a lot of time teaching and fostering both his children and grandchildren. He embraced a new type of fatherhood in which men were more nurturing and involved in their children's lives. He seemed to be ahead of his time in his parenting style and practices.

The book takes an unprecedented and in-depth look at President McKay's parenting and family life in his own home and invites readers to learn from his best practices. There are no other books available that take a contemporary parenting theory and apply it backward into history—in this case, taking a closer look at a modern-day prophet who advocated a prominent emphasis on families.

This intimate portrayal of life in the McKay family is uniquely available because of the author's extensive access to the journals of David O. McKay, which conveyed the prophet's deepest feelings, convictions, and experiences about parenthood.

Brand new hardcover book!

;

We all know that actions speak louder than words. We may say "I love you," but do our actions back up that claim? Elder Lynn G. Robbins teaches us that love is more than a feeling—it is a commitment, a promise to be responsible, respectful, and responsive to the needs and experiences of other. And like any other action we undertake, perfecting the act of love requires a lifetime of practice and good choices.

As Elder Robbins teaches, the daily choices we make in our marriages and families are what shape lasting love. He helps us to recognize the role that our agency plays in developing forgiveness, patience, kindness, responsibility, and other virtuous traits. We come to see that as we actively try to do things differently, Christ helps us to be the people He wants us to be—people like Him.

Whether you're engaged to be married, a newlywed, or someone with decades of marriage under your belt, this counsel from an inspired leader will help you develop more Christlike love for those around you. As you draw closer to the Savior through your daily choices and actions, His love will fill your home. Lynn G. Robbins

16 Six Principles for Elevating your Marriage

Stoker, John Dr.New, Covenant Communications, 2015, American Fork, UT

Audio CD

Brand New CD (Talk).

;

To improve any marriage, both partners have to take a good, honest look at how their behavior contributes to their relationship. In this recording, communications expert, speaker, and author Dr. John R. Stoker shares his knowledge and insight into how any couple can elevate their marriage by following six simple principles.

Dr. Stoker begins by discussing how "fake self" behavior impacts a relationship. You will learn how to recognize and suspend the thinking that lead you to make negative assumptions and judgements and how to challenge those perceptions of your partner. You will discover how your brain creates emotional reactions in certain situations and how to defuse those reactions to help drive contention out of your marriage.

Finally, Dr. Stoker will teach you how to increase love and appreciation in your marriage by expressing gratitude and developing forgiveness. These principles are illustrated with Dr. Stoker's humor and real-life stories, making his presentation both memorable and immediately applicable to improving any relationship.
