Yesterday, Today and Forever; Timeless Gospel Messages, Ballard, M. Russell
1 Yesterday, Today and Forever; Timeless Gospel Messages

Ballard, M. RussellNew in New Dust Jacket, Deseret Book Company, 2014, Salt Lake City, UT

Brand new hardcover book!

; The scriptures proclaim that "God is the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Mormon 9:9). In his latest book, Elder M. Russell Ballard attests to the truth of that statement by combining his words with teachings from his grandfathers, Hyrum Mack Smith and Melvin J. Ballard. What makes this combination unique is that all three of these men have served as members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"In preparing this work," writes Elder Ballard, "I have seen anew that the course of the Lord truly is 'one eternal round' (Alma 37:12) and that the doctrine of the gospel is timely and timeless. It is forever relevant to disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ."

These never-before-published talks from Elder Ballard, paired with doctrinal statements from his grandfathers, will be a valuable resource for readers and a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.

2012: Nibley's Ancient New Year Rite, Bischoff, Joy And Roy Bischoff Soberg
3 2012: Nibley's Ancient New Year Rite

Bischoff, Joy And Roy Bischoff SobergNew, Raqia Publishing, 2012,

Brand new softcover book! ; Embedded within the traditions of the Ancient New Year Rite is the pattern found within the Three Pillars of the Gospel. The Creation, the Fall, and the Atonement are the three legs of the stool that holds the understanding of the structure of the cosmos and of the temple. Dr. Hugh Nibley made the study of the New Year Rite his top focus since its concepts provided the foundation of all sacred keys of knowledge. His teachings of year cycles included larger circles of time that clearly explain why the Mayan long-count calendar points to 2012 as the ending of an important age and the beginning of a new and exciting day as the earth begins to move from a telestial condition to a terrestrial state. Most important for the LDS reader will be the keys of protection we learn from this pattern that will help us protect our families as prophecy unfolds.; 0.5 x 9 x 6 Inches; 222 pages,

HOLY UNTO THE LORD; The Nazarite Vow & The Atonement, Brinkerhoff, Val
5 HOLY UNTO THE LORD; The Nazarite Vow & The Atonement

Brinkerhoff, ValNew, digital legends, 2014,

Brand new softcover book! ; Latter-day Saints are familiar with "covenants", important promises between man and God, like those made at baptism and those entered into later at the temple. The covenants of the temple are especially important in bringing man in closer fellowship with God. But what of "oaths" or "vows" in scripture, and specifically the Nazarite vow? What is the Biblical Nazarite? Who were they? What were their vows and why did they make them? Here and there the scriptures speak of Nazarites; a special group of committed souls who willingly chose to set themselves apart from the larger group of believers, doing so for a specific length of time, some for life. Nazarites often chose to separate themselves from others, both physically and spiritually. They were consecrated to God, or as Numbers 6:8 states, "holy unto the Lord". Nazir (or Nezer) is a Hebrew word meaning "separated" or "consecrated", even "crowned" with a diadem.1 Their desire appears to have been greater fellowship with God. The journey to understand the Nazarite is a journey to understand the Savior and His Atonement.; 8.5" x 11"; 116 pages,

In Heaven as It Is on Earth - Joseph Smith and the Early Mormon Conquest of Death, Brown, Samuel Morris
6 In Heaven as It Is on Earth - Joseph Smith and the Early Mormon Conquest of Death

Brown, Samuel MorrisNew in New Dust Jacket, Oxford University Press, USA, 2012,

Brand new hardcover book! %%

; A compelling new interpretation of early Mormonism, Samuel Brown's In Heaven as It Is On Earth views this religion through the lens of founder Joseph Smith's profound preoccupation with the specter of death.

Revisiting historical documents and scripture from this novel perspective, Brown offers new insight into the origin and meaning of some of Mormonism's earliest beliefs and practices. The world of early Mormonism was besieged by death--infant mortality, violence, and disease were rampant. A prolonged battle with typhoid fever, punctuated by painful surgeries including a threatened leg amputation, and the sudden loss of his beloved brother Alvin cast a long shadow over Smith's own life. Smith embraced and was deeply influenced by the culture of "holy dying"--with its emphasis on deathbed salvation, melodramatic bereavement, and belief in the Providential nature of untimely death--that sought to cope with the widespread mortality of the period. Seen in this light, Smith's treasure quest, search for Native origins, distinctive approach to scripture, and belief in a post-mortal community all acquire new meaning, as do early Mormonism's Masonic-sounding temple rites and novel family system. Taken together, the varied themes of early Mormonism can be interpreted as a campaign to extinguish death forever. By focusing on Mormon conceptions of death, Brown recasts the story of first-generation Mormonism, showing a religious movement and its founder at once vibrant and fragile, intrepid and unsettled, human and otherworldly.

A lively narrative history, In Heaven as It Is on Earth illuminates not only the foundational beliefs of early Mormonism but also the larger issues of family and death in American religious history.

The Blueprint of Christ's Church, Callister, Tad R.
8 The Blueprint of Christ's Church

Callister, Tad R.New in New Dust Jacket, Deserert book, 2015, Salt Lake City, UT

Brand new hardcover book!

A strong testimony requires a solid foundation. This is especially true in our day, when we have so much access to information from so many sources, both reliable and spurious. With the numerous voices competing for our attention, how can we avoid being "carried about with every wind of doctrine" (Eph. 4:14)?

In The Blueprint's of Christ's Church, Tad R. Callister provides a thoughtful, systematic explanation of foundational gospel principles, tying them to Jesus Christ and demonstrating how the "blueprint" of the original Church of Jesus Christ matches the structure of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Seasoned Church members and new converts alike will benefit from this "refresher course." The carefully reasoned, scripture-based summaries of a variety of basic principles offer a great resource for parents, missionaries, and Church leaders and teachers.

Campbell, BeverlyVery Good in Very Good- Dust Jacket, Bookcraft, 2002, Salt Lake City, UT

Cover slightly rubbed and edge worn. Gift Inscription to previous owner inside front cover. ; Is the way that women evaluate their own worth affected still by the biblical story of Mother Eve? Author Beverly Campbell suggests, "In much of the literature and in most of the histories referring to women there is an undercurrent of apology, as though there is something not quite 'all right' about being a woman. In looking for the source of this unease, I came to recognize that it could be traced to accounts of the Creation and to the ever-prevalent and negative characterizations of Eve." She writes of three levels from which the story of Eden must be viewed: as historical fact, as a series of symbols and metaphors, and as a place for a beginning our own search for spiritual understanding and relevance in life. This compelling book may change forever your perception of our first parents and the choice they made. ; 6.25" x 9.25"; 199 pages,

The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, Charles, R. H.
10 The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs

Charles, R. H.Very Good with no Dust Jacket, Richard Clay & Sons, N.D., Great Britain

Books almost like new. Only have a bit of edge and corner wear.

; The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs is a constituent of the apocryphal scriptures connected with the Bible. It is a pseudepigraphical work comprising the dying commands of the twelve sons of Jacob. It is part of the Oskan Armenian Orthodox Bible of 1666. Fragments of similar writings were found at Qumran, but opinions are divided as to whether these are the same texts. It is considered apocalyptic literature. The Testaments were written in Hebrew or Greek, and reached their final form in the 2nd century CE. In the 13th century they were introduced into the West through the agency of Robert Grosseteste, Bishop of Lincoln, whose Latin translation of the work immediately became popular. He believed that it was a genuine work of the twelve sons of Jacob, and that the Christian interpolations were a genuine product of Jewish prophecy; he accused Jews of concealing the Testaments "on account of the prophecies of the Saviour contained in them."

The Adamic Language and Calendar: The True Bible Code, Cohen, David B. MD
11 The Adamic Language and Calendar: The True Bible Code

Cohen, David B. MDVery Good, Xlibris Corporation, 2009,

Cover has some light edge and corner wear. Previous owner name inside front cover. Covered in clear contact paper to protect cover. ; The Adamic Language and Calendar: The True Bible Code unlocks the mysteries of the original language and calendar. The book proves that the lesser abeit holy ancient Hebrew is longhand of Adam's shorthand, which is derivable from the ancient Hebrew. The book shows that the ancient Hebrew letterforms as well as the Adamic pictographs have profound meanings. In fact, the ancients merely studied the language in order to learn subjects such as geometry, optics, and even biochemistry. There has never been a language more powerful. The book corrects many biblical mistranslations and provides a plethora of doctinal insights and clarifications via the holy language and calendar. For example, the book sets the anachronistic record straight on the chronology of the atoning events, proving to the world that Jesus was pattern to sacred chronologies, thereby revealing key future events including the signs and date of the opening of the seventh seal. ; 0.9 x 9 x 6 Inches; 344 pages,

Cowley's Talks on Doctrine, Cowley, Matthias F.
12 Cowley's Talks on Doctrine

Cowley, Matthias F.New, Archive Publishers, 2015, Heber City, Utah

Brand new softcover book!

%% ; Cowley’s Talks on Doctrine are somewhat apologetic in nature and seem not only to explain Mormon philosophy and doctrine but to question other doctrines as well. While not calling out others specifically Cowley does an incredible job illustrating the Mormon position from Bible citations.

There are 22 chapters in the book and most are around 8-10 pages long and all are detailed enough to satisfy the reader. He covers the most of the main topics that the LDS faith is criticized for and defends them nobly. His extensive use of logic in the stead of revelation is a very strong argument for the brilliance of the writer. He constantly questions his topic and backs up his questions with logic and scripture verse.

Cowley, Matthias F.New, Archive Publishers, 1915,

Brand new softcover book!

%% ; From the Preface: Notwithstanding what has already been written upon the principles and doctrines of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Latter-Day Saints, I feel an assurance that this little work will be received with no little pleasure and a great degree of satisfaction by members of the true Church, as well as those who are seeking light upon religious topics.

The style in which the articles comprised in this little volume are written, is pre-eminently plain, and peculiarly adapted to the reading public. Loaded as the articles are, with careful thought and numerous scriptural quotations and references, itself not only a thought gatherer but a thought generator, it will come as a valuable aid to our missionaries and theological organizations, and also to the many investigators throughout the civilized world. Truth in studied brevity has been aimed at, without seeking the least embellishment of diction.

16 Zion's Trumpet - 1851 Welsh Mormon Periodical

Dennis, Ronald (editor) ; Dennis, Ronald (translator)New in New Dust Jacket, Deseret Book, 2012, Salt Lake City, UT

Brand new hardcover book! ; Unlike his first two years as editor of Zion's Trumpet, John S. Davis was a married man when he published the first issue of the 1851 volume. The marriage between him and Elizabeth Phillips took plan on 30 December 1850 in Merthyr Tydfil. He moved from his residence on Nantygwenith Street to one on John Street, both located int he same neighborhood of Georgetown, Merthyr Tydfil. Elizabeth, eighteen months John's junior, had just turned twenty-seven. Both were the only ones from their families to convert to Mormonism. The publication of Latter-day Saint materials in Wales became a joint venture. Another change John S. Davis made at that time was the format of Zion's Trumpet. Instead of the twelve monthly issues with a four-page printed wrapper he had used for the first two volumes, he published the third volume twice monthly in sixteen-page issues prices at a penny each. In the 24 December 1851 foreword to the third volume of Zion's Trumpet John looked back on the year and declared that he had "experienced the greatest responsibility of [his] life." Not only had he published twenty-six issues of the periodical, he had also translated and published the entire Doctrine and Covenants and over half the Book of Mormon. A "facsimile translation" into English of the 1849 volume was published in 2001 by Ronald D. Dennis, professor emeritus of Welsh at Brigham Young University. Ten years later in 1022, he published a "facsimile translation" of the 1850 volume. He now presents the 1851 volume, translated and edited according to the "facsimile" format previously established. Again, the physical appearance of the Welsh original has been reproduced with similar typefaces and layout. ; 6" x 9"; 416 + index pages,

; Henry Bennion Eyring was born on May 31, 1933, in Princeton, New Jersey, bearing the first name of his father, who was fast building a reputation as a brilliant scientist, and the family name of his mother, who didn't care for the name "Henry" and insisted that he be called Hal.In 1970, Hal received an impression to make a daily record of his activities. Perspectives on Mormon Theology; Scriptural Theology, Faulconer, James E. & Joseph M. Spencer
19 Perspectives on Mormon Theology; Scriptural Theology

Faulconer, James E. & Joseph M. SpencerNew, Greg Kofford Books, Inc., 2015,

Brand new softcover book!

; The phrase "theology of scripture" can be understood in two distinct ways. First, theology of scripture would be reflection on the nature of scripture, asking questions about what it means for a person or a people to be oriented by a written text (rather than or in addition to an oral tradition or a ritual tradition). In this first sense, theology of scripture would form a relatively minor part of the broader theological project, since the nature of scripture is just one of many things on which theologians reflect. Second, theology of scripture would be theological reflection guided by scripture, asking questions of scriptural texts and allowing those texts to shape the direction the theologian's thoughts pursue. In this second sense, theology of scripture would be less a part of the larger theological project than a way of doing theology, since whatever the theologian takes up reflectively, she investigates through the lens of scripture. The essays making up this collection reflect attentiveness to both ways of understanding the phrase "theology of scripture." Each essay takes up the relatively un-self-conscious work of reading a scriptural text but then-at some point or another-asks the self-conscious question of exactly what she or he is doing in the work of reading scripture. We have thus attempted in this book (1) to create a dialogue concerning what scripture is for Latter-day Saints, and (2) to focus that dialogue on concrete examples of Latter-day Saints reading actual scripture texts.

20 Let Us Reason Together; Essays in Honor of the Life's Work of Robert Millet

Fluhman, J. Spencer & Brent L. TopNew in New Dust Jacket, RSC/Deseret Book Company, 2015,

; A single volume cannot accurately measure the influence of a beloved colleague, but this one nevertheless stands as modest evidence of Robert L. Millet s prodigious impact over a career that spanned nearly four decades. His retirement provided an opportunity to gather some of those who count him as a mentor, colleague, and friend. They offer this collection of essays as a monument to his remarkable career as an administrator, teacher, and writer. That these pieces range across topics, disciplines, and even religious traditions seems especially appropriate given Millet s own broad reach. His students number in the thousands, his readers number perhaps ten times that number, and his friends in academia, the Church Educational System, and around the globe in many faiths would be difficult to number indeed. Both in terms of his staggering literary production and in his broad collection of colleagues, it is not an overstatement to place Bob Millet among the most influential Latter-day Saint voices of the past quarter century.; 6.25" x 9.25"; 414 pages,
