3 Joseph Smith - the Man and the Seer (Tributes to the Prophet Joseph from Friend, Foe, and Acquaintances)

Andrus, Hyrum L.Very Good in Very Good Dust Jacket, Deseret Book, 1960, Salt Lake City, UT

Hardcover

Cover has some light edge and corner wear. ; Dr. Andrus has deftly brought together material from friend to foe as well as from acquaintances of the Prophet. From each of these eyewitnesses comes a tribute to Joseph. The fact that all--friend, foe, acquaintance--responded to the Prophet's greatness in a similar manner would indicate that he could not have hoodwinked them all. That Brigham Young's dying words were Joseph Smith's name indicates the eternal effect of the Seer on those who had linked their cause to his--to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. ; 6.25" x 9.25"; 144 pages,

Brand new softcover, never been read! - History/Treasure Hunting

; Utah Historian, Kerry Boren, claims to have found the grandest of all Mother Lodes--a hidden cavern inside a monster gold nugget, where Montezuma hid the bigger part of his treasure from Hernando Cortez. The pieces to this fantastic puzzle came together while Boren was studying ancient maps and unpublished journals. Boren's incredible search led him to a remote Uintah Mountain treasure cavern, cursed by the Aztecs and guarded by the Ute Indians--where Brigham Young got the gold to mint coins and decorate temples. Kerry Boren has solved the mystery of the lost Rhoades Mine, and now published for the first time the details of his search for all to read. Boren believes this remarkable, true story will change the way Utah history is perceived and taught for the next thousand years.

11 The Prophecies of Joseph Smith

Crowther, Duane S.Very Good- in Good+ Dust Jacket, Horizon Publishers, 1980, Bountiful, Ut, U. S. A.

Hardcover

Cover has some light edge and corner wear. Gift Inscription to previous owner inside front cover. No noticed Markings, Inside or out. ; Jeremiah, prophet to ancient Judah, said it: "When the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the prophet be known, that the Lord hath truly sent him. " Fulfillment of prophecy is the test which has been applied through the ages to identify those who truly speak in the name of God. The Prophecies of Joseph Smith is written to bear witness that the Lord has spoken, in these last days, through Joseph Smith, the Mormon prophet. Contained in this book are hundreds of prophetic statements which have seen full and complete fulfillment. This unique volume cites the prophecies, describes the circumstances under which they were uttered, and then explains in detail how they were fulfilled. Not only does it report many of the prophecies made by Joseph Smith, it also documents many prophecies made by others about Joseph. The scriptures, too, contain numerous prophecies about Joseph Smith and about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ in which Joseph played a prominent role. Almost 200 of the prophecies cited are from the Bible or other scriptural sources, and the exact nature of the fulfillment of these scriptural prophecies is also recorded. Included in the book are many detailed maps and outlines which show the major events in Joseph's life, and correlate those events with key LDS historical sources. Also included are numerous charts, photographs and drawings which explain major prophecies, doctrinal principles, and historical events. The book is rich in historical data and the narrative is written in a smooth, readable style that will hold the interest of both young and old. Here is a volume filled with rich insights and new understandings for the seeker of truth. In this time of confusion, it provides knowledge and stability to those who are searching for a personal testimony of God's ministration to His people through prophets today. ; 6" x 9"; 413 pages,

The Hidden Discourse - Pres. Brigham Young, October 8, 1861, Dye, David (editor)
14 The Hidden Discourse - Pres. Brigham Young, October 8, 1861

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; This 24-page booklet was produced by the FIG Project. The original discourse is found in the LDS Church archives, but cannot be found printed in any Church publication as per the instructions of President Young. He began his talk, "I will give you a few words of doctrine, upon which there has been much inquiry, and with regard to which considerable ignorance exists. Brother Watt will write it, but it is not my intention to have it published; therefore pay good attention, and store it up in your memories."

Discussed in this extremely interesting and hard-to-find discourse are doctrinal tidbits on items such as Adam-God, divorce, the sealing of women to men (and the two ways that they can be released -- if a man is unfaithful to his covenants, or if a woman desires to be sealed to another man who holds a higher position in the priesthood) , the roles of men and women, and how young ladies can choose an eternal companion.

In the first section of this pamphlet can be found the "corrected" version of this discourse, with spelling, punctuation, etc. , printed properly. The second section is a typescript of the talk as it was recorded, with strikeouts, additions, spelling errors, ect. This is for the purists who desire to see what changes were made in the text of the talk in the corrected version. ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 24 pages,

The Order of Enoch - President Brigham Young October 1872, Dye, David (editor)
15 The Order of Enoch - President Brigham Young October 1872

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; No person can be exalted in the kingdom of heaven without first submitting himself to the rules, regulations, laws and ordinances of that kingdom, and being perfectly subject to them in every respect. There are requirements for exaltation. One must conform precisely and fully to what the laws of Heaven are. Thus begins Brigham Young in this discourse.
The Order of Enoch encompasses more than the living of the United Order; it is a mind set that guides our whole life. Even our business dealings ought to be done always based on the principles of the gospel.
In this wonderfully directive discourse, President Young offers counsel for a Zion society: don't waste your time, and especially in the reading of the words of a frivolous nature; do not contend; do not rely upon the arm of flesh; etc.
Also found in this discourse are his feelings on the professions of doctors and lawyers. He states that it would soon be that a woman would not have a baby without a doctor present. Thus is it now!
Probably the most important message of this discourse is this: " ... It seems as if the affections of the people are hankering after the things of this world too much, too much! Stop, Latter-day Saints, and reckon with yourselves, and find whether you are actually in the path of obediance to the requirements of heaven or not. Some suppose that they are serving God and are on the road to eternal life, but many will find they are mistaken if they are not careful. We had better reckon with ourselves and look over our accounts, and see how we stand before the Lord." ; The FIG Project Series; 5.5" x 8.5"; 20 pages,

16 Timeless Counsel on the Welfare of the Saints - Brigham Young April/may 1863

Dye, David (editor)New, Hindsight Publications, 2009,

Paperback

Brand new softcover pamphlet! ; Brother Brigham could not see a difference between spiritual and temporal. In this discourse, he emphatically declares that acquaintance and knowledge in both is vital for the Saints. Given in 1863, when the Saints were just coming out of their relative isolation, President Young counsels the Saints to remain self-sufficient, many imports were being brought in from the East, and the Saints were coming to rely upn trade, and the world, for their needs, rather than upon their God and their own industry. Clothing, tea, gold, silver, and even education are some of those things which Brigham encouraged the saints to supply themselves.
Said he: "Let good schools be established throughout all the settlements of the Saints in Utah. Let good teachers who are Latter-day Saints in principle and at heart, be employed to educate our children. A good school teacher is one of the most essential members in society; he relieves parents, in part, of a great responsibility and labor; we should, therefore, make the business of school teaching a permanent institution, and the remuneration should be in amount and in kind equal to the receipts of our best mechanincs; it should also be promptly and willingly paid, and school commissioners and trustees should see to it that teachers are properly qualified and do earn their pay."
Additionally, referring directly to tea, and yet making reference to many other items, he said, "Tea is in great demand in Utah, .... Tea can be produced in this territory in sufficient quantities for home consumption, and if we raise it ourselves we know that we have the pure article. If we do not raise it, I would suggest that we do without it."
He spoke of the eternities, and progression throughout. "I never expect to see the time that there will not be a superior power and a superior knowledge, and, consequently, incitements to further progress and further improvement."
And in giving an encouraging word, he said, "We are not required in our sphere to be as perfect as Gods and angels are in their spheres, yet man is the king of kings and lord of lords in embryo." ; The FIG Project Series; Vol. 1; 5.5" x 8.5"; 16 pages,
